Space
i want to fill my world with you

Space
your quietness is music to me

Space
your barrenness is ripe to me

Space
can I have a closer friend than you?

Your words, spoken with finality
Like the midday sun, blaze and shine
Leaving no shadow of doubt
My heart flees from their piercing brightness
To the gentleness of dawn and dusk
Where shadows lengthen and soften
Stretched and made indistinct by the unspoken.

Buy and by

It's in your email
Codes for the flash sale
Buy, buy, buy
Grab the deal before the next guy
The glittering world is out there
And it's whirring 'buy'
If I choose to stop and stare
And to this world defy
In the choice of mind and matter
Do you 'mind' if to me it doesn't 'matter'?

I've been determined to shake my writer's block off and make a renewed commitment to writing. So here I am today, penning the resounding thoughts in my head since the start of this year.

Does everything have to have a beginning somewhere..if it does, then this beginning is perhaps one from another life and another time, but with the same souls colliding against each other, sometimes gently, sometimes roughly, sometimes unbeknown to each other, sometimes to be the voices that beckon and remind.  Formless souls coalesce with one another like droplets of water in a cloud, only to rain down upon the earth, losing themselves to become part of something else, acquiring a form, content, substance, 'muchness'.  In this muchness, can I deny my 'suchness', that I am what you are, that we are of the same cloud, that this and only this is the undeniable truth?

Poems from a Nani to her grandson

High-Five

Obi, my grandson
Obi, my bright one
Obi, Baba's small boy
Obi, Amma's eternal joy!

Lil Ray, a drop of golden sun
What you do is so much fun
With pencil and colours, scissors and glue
You make pictures and figures in so many hues.

You love stories of demons and kings
And know to do so many things
You can make round rotis
And fold big dhotis
Water the flowers
Chant many prayers
Sing pretty rhymes
And hop many times
Like Milkha you run a mile
And flash a dazzling smile

Your Jana-Gana for our nation
Brings deep admiration
Your rich vocabulary
Will outstrip the dictionary

The gymnastics you do
Make me call you my laddoo
I could go on like this
But I'll save it for your six! :-)

With all the love in the world
Nani

Silly Hilly verse

Plinkish the 'palli'
Lived in Nai dilli
with his friend Milli
One day,
They decided to do something silly
So they climbed up a hilly
and wore dresses which were frilly
And called their friend over
Whose name was Gitanjili
And they had a time which was 'thrilly'

Obi's Janmashtami prayer

God, dont just keep everyone like this. Make all the people stronger and stronger than big, blue whales.
God, let all bad people become good.
God, make all the drinking water clean. Dont let any 'poochis' be in the water.
God, dont let people be poor. They should get all the things we have in our houses.
God, please god bless us and make us alright from our sickness.
God, dont let the fans be dirty. Make all the fans clean.
God, dont let anyone become old and die.
God, just keep everything clean. Dont let anything become dirty.
God, make all the flowers not get any poochis in it. They need to be fresh.
God, dont let people fight with each other.
God, dont let us waste water.
God, dont let our TV get 'gandu'.
God, take out nice, beautiful colours like pink, orange, like all these colours.
God, dont let any animals eat us.
God, dont make anything rough, keep everything soft.
God, dont keep the pillows hard, keep it fluffy and soft.
God, keep everyone jhunglee. Not all the girls. They will just be people.
God, give everyone muscles and make it very big like this (arms stretched out wide).
